Ahhh!!!!! I have been waiting for this trailer for the longest time!! I loved the Comic Con trailer that was released last summer, and I love this one even more! I did read the trailer description which was leaked about a week ago, and it was correct - but I don't think that it did much damage to this trailer. Okay, now let's dive into this trailer!
I first want to start with the music - which I thought was perfect! Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody was a great choice; I think that song has so many different aspects and layers as it builds, so I think it ties in with the whole concept of the Suicide Squad there. I also really liked how the trailer was edited to the music, it just gives you the "Oh, this is actually really cool!" vibe! I also loved the logos, starting with the Warner Bro's and DC logos at the beginning - along with the Suicide Squad logo at the end. The lights and colors were brilliant and whoever came up with it deserves a raise!
I'm going to start with the character who impressed me the most, and that was (surprise, surprise) Harley Quinn! I now know that Margot Robbie was perfectly cast as Harley, and I'm relieved to know that they're hitting middle ground with Harley. She's a bit of a mix of the comic book version, and also the Rocksteady video game version (which is where I'm more familiar with her) which is something I can fully support! I also loved the end scene with her smashing the window and stealing a purse - which was one of my favorite parts of this trailer! Next up, is The Joker. That shot were Joker says "I can't wait to show you my toys" was great. Jared Leto is 100% selling the Joker to me, his facial expressions and voice are perfect! We also got a hint of his laugh (other than the slower one from the Comic Con footage). I also want to give a little nod to the shot of Joker swan-diving into the vats of acid and lifting Harley Quinn out, which I thought was beautiful! Jai Courtney and Will Smith are tied next for their respective roles as Captain Boomerang and Deadshot. Though Courtney's take on Boomerang made me laugh more - Deadshot got a completely better action sequence! The moment you see him on one knee on the roof of that car shooting at -- whatever those things were was undeniably cool! Enchantress got a little bit more exposure here (not much), but we did get to hear her talk which was cool! I like that they're saving more of her for the actual movie. The last cast member that I'm going to talk about is Killer Croc - When Joel Kinnaman is speaking over the squad member saying he does this and she's that, the moment he is talking about Killer Croc, you see Croc snarl and flash his teeth. Not only do I think the teeth look wonderful - but the make up and prosthetics they used on him as well! I really loved that they took a more realistic approach with him instead of just making him all CG.
The one problem I have with the trailer, was how good it was - and the fact that the movie is so far away! I thought this trailer was perfect and I am unbelievably excited to see this movie - and I will definitely be seeing it in I-Max 3D when it comes out August 5th! Let me know what you all thought of this trailer, are you excited for the movie? Who was your favorite character from this trailer?
