Let's end the year with a bang - or in the case of these movies, a whimper. Keep in mind that I did not (nor do I want to) see Terminator Genisys, Hot Pursuit, Jupiter Ascending, and countless other bad movies that came out this year! Keep in mind, this is my personal top 10, if there is a movie you think deserves to be on this list, let me know in the comments!
#10. The Divergent Series: Insurgent
I was a fan of the first movie, enough so that I started to think that this series could possibly fill the void that would eventually be left by The Hunger Games franchise - was I wrong. I can't recall the last time I actually wanted a movie to be over, I along with the countless others in the theater was constantly looking at my phone waiting to see if it could possibly be over soon. This movie also ruined the excitement I thought I would have by the time Allegiant came around, and now I can tell you that I will most likely be watching Allegiant when it comes out on red box.
#9. The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
2015 was the year of spy movies, off the top of my head I think there were 5 spy movies that were released this year, and at least one of them had to be bad. Sadly enough, one of them was, and that one was The Man From U.N.C.L.E. I had missed this movie in theaters, but when it was released on DVD, and I rented it the first chance I got. It was sad to say that I couldn't even finish the movie. It played all the way through, I just figured I had better things to do at the time rather than sit there for the last half hour of the movie bored out of my mind. The movie had an intriguing opening, but with the overall lack of action and hints of sexual tension between the two leads which was never explored, I became overwhelmed with boredom.
#8. Taken 3
I don't understand why they made a 3rd one. I was one of the few who enjoyed the 2nd one, but I feel like they should've left it at that, but no - they just had to make a trilogy. When I saw the first trailer, I actually thought that the movie had a chance at being decent. Somewhere around the middle, I started thinking that this movie seemed really familiar, and once it finished - it hit me. This movie was a slightly changed version of The Fugitive which starred Harrison Ford. So, if you're looking for a good action thriller - check out The Fugitive instead.
#7. Tomorrowland
Coming in at number 7, is the only movie that I fell asleep in at the movie theaters. I had actually been looking forward to this movie for a couple of months, but to my disappointment, it was nowhere near as good as I thought it would. I loved Britt Robertson, and liked George Clooney, but was disappointed in everything else. The message of the movie was passed on in a very dark and disturbing tone, which in a way seemed to blame the audience, and the story overall was very lackluster.
#6. Poltergeist
I am one who thoroughly enjoys horror remakes of old classics. I loved the 2010 remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street, as well as the 2008 remake of Halloween. However, I did NOT love the remake of Poltergeist. I had never seen the original, yet somehow managed to predict every scare (which was not that scary), as well as predict the ending. In all honestly, I found the movie humorous and preferred to watch the reactions of all the teenage girls who would jump and scream in the theater.
#5. Sinister 2
Nothing is more upsetting to me than when there is a good horror movie, and the studio that made it decides to give it a sequel - a sequel which is nowhere near as good as the first. Every aspect which made the first Sinister scary and creepy, made this movie laughable. I think this movie, from the beginning, faced an uphill battle. The twist at the end of the first movie, which made it even more frightening, is known and expected in this. If you want a good scare, just go and watch the first Sinister.
#4. Fantastic Four
With the superhero craze, I can understand 20th Century Fox wanting to reboot the Fantastic Four franchise. Yet for some reason, they decided to meddle with what Josh Trank was trying to create, and created the complete opposite of what any studio wants. This movie was ridiculed so much, that I had to go and see the movie for myself, and though I didn't think it was as bad as every one was saying, I could see all of the flaws, and there were a lot. So head this warning, if you want a good comic book movie - head on over to the Avengers, X-Men, or DC franchises instead!
#3. Pan
I knew this movie would end up on this list from the moment they started singing Nirvana. Yes you read that correctly, they sing Nirvana in the movie. I'm all for live action fairytales, I've enjoyed every one that Disney has released, but this one was something else. From the way Hugh Jackman's character looked, to the white washing, the outrageously bad performances (that means you Hedlund), and of course the Nirvana singing. That certain scene reminds me of why I didn't enjoy A Knight's Tale, I've never been a fan of casually inserting bits of popular music into a movie. My advice, stay away from this one!
#2. The Boy Next Door
Bad acting, reused story, countless clichés what do all these traits lead to in a movie? A bad one. My mom couldn't even take this movie seriously. From the moment the movie starts to pick up, I was able to guess the ending - I was right. I look forward to never having to watch this movie again!
#1. fifty Shades of Grey
Coming in at number 1, is the worst movie of 2015. Everything about this movie screamed no. The actors, the story, the movie itself. This is a sexual version of Twilight. If that doesn't tell you to stay away from this movie, I don't know what does. I cringed so much throughout the movie, because of how bad it is. Upsettingly, this movie made a lot of money, more than movies which were infinitely better than this. The only good thing of this movie was it's soundtrack. At least the next one doesn't come out until 2017, giving us a good 2016. What did you guys think of my list? What is your top 10 worst list of 2015?
