My Review:
I just love it when a cast delivers! Now somehow, I was able to miss this movie when it was in theaters so I had to wait for it to come out on DVD, but no harm done because I can review it now! I am pleased to say that this movie delivers! If you are a fan of war time movies, you should definitely watch this one! Let's go on to my review!
Acting: Brad Pitt is the biggest name in this movie and surely the biggest draw in! He did a fantastic job here as 'Wardaddy'. He sold every line that he had in the movie, and without him this movie wouldn't have been the same! Logan Lerman did an immensely incredible job! I knew that he was a good actor after seeing him in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" but his performance in this movie blows everything he's done in the past out of the water! He had solid conviction of every emotion that he was faced with. Now, I had heard of how Shia LaBeouf was difficult to work with, so I had hoped that all the trouble he caused for this role would result in a good performance. I am pleased to say that he did do a good job. I was a bit surprised that he played the more religious character, but after watching all the characters I feel that it made more sense. Michael Peña & Jon Bernthal both played similar characters, now at times these characters could come off as unlikable, but when a big war scene comes on and we're left fearing for the characters, we also route for them.
Directing: David Ayer was at the helm of this movie. Now when I think of David Ayer I think of two movies: "Sabotage" (That terrible movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger) and "End of Watch" (that good movie with Jake Gyllenaal) so after seeing those two titles and realizing that the director of both of those is directing "Fury" it's understandable to be a bit worried. But nevertheless Ayer delivered a great film with a consistent tone throughout! This makes me very excited to see what Ayer has in store with DC's upcoming Suicide Squad with Ayer behind the camera!
Story: "Fury" focuses on 5 men who are involved in the second world war. Ayer who directed this movie also wrote the script, and boy did he do a good job! This movie gave us a refreshing new take on World War II by not focusing on Hitler, The Jews, or the Japanese; but gave us a look at Americans at all out war with Germans! The script never has a dull moment, and it's really hard for some movies to accomplish that!
My Conclusion:
This movie delivers on what it is supposed to, and that is a good war time movie! If you're a fan of war movies, Brad Pitt, or even on screen ensembles make sure to watch Fury! Overall I give "Fury" 8 out of 10 star, and I would recommend you buy it on Blu-Ray! That's all for today, but be sure to check in regularly for more Daily David Movies!
